Youth Mission Trips a Success

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

The High School and Middle School Youth Groups worked with heart and compassion during the summer mission trips to Virginia. Working with Harvest of Hope, we rescued over 14,000 pounds of corn and potatoes from the fields and delivered them to food banks and even door to door to folks. I praise God for those continuing this work and pray that God will continue to work through the youth of this community.

This truck is full!

Day 1 – Youth Mission Trip

Monday, July 16th, 2012

We are here at Harvest of Hope with youth groups from Ohio, Iowa, Texas, and Virginia. This morning we all harvested a field of potatoes grown specifically for the Northern Neck Food Bank. Check them out at nnfb.org. We harvested 5600 pounds of potatoes today!!! Hot, but satisfying. Lunch provided by St. John’s Episcopal Church.

High Schoolers Headed for Virginia

Monday, July 9th, 2012

12 members of the High School Youth Group are headed to Virginia for a mission trip. We will be joining the Harvest of Hope, offered by the Society of St. Andrew. Our mission team will spend a week in the area of Christchurch, VA, gleaning leftover produce from farmers’ fields after harvest and delivering the food for distribution in the local area. The field effort is supported with worship and group programming on the topic of hunger, food waste, and sustainability. To learn more about this program, visit www.endhunger.org

Please pray for the mission trip while we are away – July 15 – 21.
