Plan Q, it’s always plan Q at my house and in my life. My schedule starts with one thing and turns into something else. This morning I got to my office and a picture had fallen off the shelves and broken a snowglobe. There were shards of glass and bits of glitter all over my books and floor. That wasn’t what I had planned.
Sometimes it is a meeting that gets rescheduled. Sometimes it is a person in need. Almost every day there is something that changes and I’m on to plan Q. I have learned to live with it and even enjoy it.
E.B. White wrote: “I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”
It is hard to plan the day when life changes, when we have conflicting goals. What I try to do is stay centered on God’s presence, to breathe deeply when life shifts under my feet, to be open and nimble, and when I have to be, humble.
Life is always changing but God’s presence is steadfast.
