Shortening Days

The days are getting shorter. Every morning, as I pray, the light is a little bit less. I find myself turning a bit more inward as the darkness comes. It’s not a bad thing. Darkness brings a gentle holding, an embrace of the day.

In the darkness, I hold in prayer, name after name, place after place. In the darkness, I am held by God’s grace in the midst of so much suffering and sadness. In the darkness, I am invited into a deeper relationship with God, myself, and the world around me.

As the days get shorter, may you find deep peace in God’s embrace.
