Today we begin our Lenten journey, wandering in the wilderness. There is burlap to remind us of the rough basicness of the road ahead. We have a new cross which was made by Zach Kerzee, the pastor of Simple Church in Grafton, who makes things out of reclaimed wood to help fund his church. The cross is made of a variety of different kinds of wood, bigger pieces and smaller ones, it represents to me the variety of the church community.
Lent is about setting aside 40 days – a tithe of the year – to refocus our lives. I hope that you will find your place on the journey. I hope that we will carry each other through. I know that in the end we will find resurrection.
